My girls love doing their nails and the more sparkly and colorful the better. I love finding natural solutions for an afternoon manicure. It’s fun to encourage simple hygiene routines and teach my girls healthy habits even starting at ages 2 and 4. It’s amazing how many natural ideas you can discover for moisturizing skin and hair and keeping little fingernails looking clean and sparkly.
Moisturize Hands and Cuticles
Use a natural moisturizer on your hands and focus on massaging it into your cuticles. Soft and healthy cuticles are the first step for lovely manicures. Moisturizers that contain coconut oil and shea butter are wonderfully hydrating. I always read the labels to avoid products with fillers such as petrolatum and mineral oil.
Buff Your Nails Before Polish
Buffing your nails helps increase the blood circulation to the nail bed and smoothes out ridges to give polish a smoother surface to adhere to. Buffing also encourages your nails to grow thanks to the improved circulation.
Choose Natural Nail Products
Piggy Paint is a natural nail polish that offers the benefits of typical nail polish, in a way that is Eco-friendly and non-toxic. Developed by a mom, Piggy Paint natural nail polish ensures little girls (and moms too!) can have all the fun without all the chemicals. They also recently launched SOPHi, a more sophisticated line of polish in beautiful modern hues and shimmers. My 3-year-old daughter asks to paint her nails about 3 times a day and loves using Piggy Paint, and I love that it’s not exposing her to any harsh chemicals.
The SOPHi line of nail polish comes in a wide variety of beautiful colors — purples, pinks, blues, reds, and even slate and gray. I love painting my nails colors that are modern and unexpected, like light blue, pale lavender, and gray. Soft colors make me feel glamorous without making my nails feel glaringly bright as I go about household tasks. I was excited to check out SOPHI’s “Pretty Shore About You” & “Dance Lilac No One’s Watching” hues; clever names for great colors! They also sent me their Prime, Seal & Shine system that included a base coat and top coat.
My daughter was all too eager to embellish her nails with her favorite colors; blue, pink, and purple. Of course, she often wants a turn but I’ve experienced the drawbacks of letting a 3-year-old paint her own nails in the past. 🙂 One of the many awesome things about Piggy Paint is that it dries quickly, which is especially important to help prevent little girls from smudging their nails. The SOPHi base coat dried in seconds and the colorful Piggy Paint was mostly dry on the other fingers by the time I’d finished the last nail.
I also love that Piggy Paint has so many colors and options available, made especially for little girls. Great ideas often come from a mom problem-solving within her own family. Piggy Paint is a great example of a great product that fills a need for many families and was designed by a mom for her own girls.

It’s fun for girls to paint their nails with non-toxic nail polish and enjoy a relaxing spa time. Practicing painting their own nails on a protected surface can also help little girls develop fine motor skills. My girls love having manicure and pedicures and picking out the sparkly finishes and colorful shades. Most often every fingernail ends up painted a different color!

I’m planning to get some for my girls’ Christmas stockings this year
I have been thinking of getting this but was worried my daughter would chew it off or it would chip. I’m not 100% convinced yet but this review helped a bit, thanks
I love the idea of this and I think I’ll be trying it soon.
