Why We Love Going to Disney on Ice
Our family really enjoys going to Disney on Ice each year. In fact, I have my own special memories of seeing Disney on Ice shows as a kid. We love watching Disney’s classic stories of adventure, courage and “love conquers all” come alive through the talented ice skating performances. Plus, the costumes are dazzling!

Colorful & Magical Family Event
Disney on Ice is a really special family night out. Our kids eagerly anticipate going to Disney on Ice each year. My kids plan what they are going to wear and try to guess which characters they might see. Of course, my kids love watching Elsa’s magic ice powers brought to life with glittering lights and suspended props. My girls have enjoyed seeing the Tangled and Beauty & the Beast aerial performances, when ice skating meets ribbon dancing. Furthermore, stunts performed by the Toy Story crew and Aladdin’s entourage offer plenty of action for courageous boys. Disney on Ice has something for everyone, packed in a magical family experience!

Great Show for Young Kids
Additionally, the Disney on Ice experience is great for kids of all ages! Young kids will love seeing their favorite Disney characters dance to their favorite up-beat Disney songs. Older kids will enjoy seeing the technical ice skating performances and amazing special effects used to tell each story.
We’ve learned a few tips for taking kids to Disney on Ice, to make the most of this memorable experience!
Make sure to eat something before the show. Kids who aren’t hungry can fully appreciate the magical experience. You can also often buy snacks at the venue, during the show’s intermission.
Go to the bathroom before the show. It’s no fun to miss part of the show! Make sure each kid has used the bathroom prior to sitting down, so they can sit through each 40-60 minute Disney on Ice show session. Also, sometimes bathroom lines at the venue can be long, so don’t wait until right before the show starts to use the bathroom.
Wear layers such as a sweater and bring a jacket. The Disney on Ice performance is on ice, so the venue can be chilly. Our family typically wears comfortable layers and we have a great time. Comfy kids will be able to fully focus on the show and soak up the magical experience!
Kids Can Dress Up
Best of all, kids can dress up for Disney on Ice! My kids love wearing their favorite Disney outfits and accessories. My girls have dressed up as Elsa and Anna, and Aurora for Disney on Ice. Adults can wear their favorite Disney shirt or Mickey Mouse ears, but adults are not allowed to dress up in costume. Evidently, this rule prevents adult attendees from being confused with Disney on Ice performers.
Finally, at the Disney on Ice shows, you can purchase all sorts of Disney accessories, wands, crowns, and gifts! Based on our experience, the crowns and wands range from $25 to $50.
You can purchase Disney On Ice souvenirs using a contactless shopping experience with digital purchasing options. You can even pre-order items and pick them up at the venue’s contactless pickup station. The Disney On Ice souvenir shop is a fun opportunity to buy kids something special, which they can also wear during the show.
Overall, we love going to Disney on Ice! My kids love dressing up and we plan ahead to be there early so that we can get all settled to watch the show!
