5 Natural Beauty Tips

Pamper yourself from head to toe with these simple, natural beauty tips that cost practically nothing and use ingredients possibly already in your kitchen such as coconut oil, olive oil, vinegar, and salt.

DIY No-Shine Face Powder

Brush a light layer of cornstarch on top of your makeup. It serves as a natural makeup protector and will help prevent your face from becoming shiny throughout the day. I’ve been using this technique for several years now and it would be hard to go back to using traditional face powder. Cornstarch costs only pennies per use and really does keep my face from looking shiny or greasy even hours later.

Coconut Oil Manis & Pedis

Coconut oil is an excellent softener on your cuticles and even helps strengthen nails and prevent them from becoming brittle. Coconut oil also possesses naturally antibacterial and anti-fungal properties, making it a wonderful all-natural foot-pampering resource. You can also swap out your shaving cream with coconut oil for a silky-smooth shaving experience.

Simply Shiny Hair

Rinse your hair with a dousing of 50% water and 50% vinegar after shampooing. The vinegar will remove any shampoo residue and will leave your locks with a natural, healthy shine. Just keep your eyes tightly shut until fully rinsed!

Natural Salt Scrub

Mix 1/2 cup olive oil with 1/4 cup sea salt to make a naturally exfoliating body scrub that will remove dead skin cells and promote softer, glowing skin. Olive oil naturally moisturizes and it’s also an anti-inflammatory.

Cooling Cucumber Mask

Puree 1/2 of a peeled cucumber and mix it with 1 tablespoon of plain yogurt. The lactic acid in the yogurt will help exfoliate, smooth and moisturize your skin, while the cucumber cools and soothes. This mask also helps relieve sunburn and reduce inflammation. Evenly apply the mask onto your face, leave it on for 15 minutes and rinse with cold water. Sip some cucumber-infused water while you’re at it — simply slice peeled cucumber into a glass of ice water for a refreshing treat.
