Does your family love smoothies? It’s easy to make my kiddos smoothies using almost any combination of healthy fruits and veggies. Plus I can sneak veggies into a sweet banana berry smoothie if my little one refuses to eat carrots and spinach alone. Here are some of our favorite healthy smoothie combinations and our favorite way to blend them into smoothie goodness!
Strawberry Banana Smoothie
Ingredients: Vanilla yogurt, banana, “Cuties” orange slices, strawberries, ice
Mix the ingredients thoroughly together until smooth. For this smoothie we used the Nutri Ninja Auto-iQ Compact System which blended our fresh ingredients into a smooth blend of fresh fruit juice and pureed pulp. Adding more ice results in thicker smoothies, while less ice will make a thinner smoothie.
Avocado Spinach Smoothie
Ingredients: Vanilla yogurt, banana, apple juice, avocado slices, spinach leaves, ice
Mix the ingredients thoroughly together until smooth. The avocado gave this smoothie a rich and silky flavor, with the perfect amount of sweetness thanks to the apple juice.
The Nutri Ninja Auto-iQ Compact System‘s many features include Smooth Boost Technology, allowing you to customize your drink-making experience with various levels of power and achieve a smoothness like never before. You can use the Nutri Ninja to make nutrient-rich juices or thick, creamy smoothies by using the different settings.
Island Berry Smoothie
This smoothie makes me want to travel to the tropics!
Ingredients: Banana, mango, pineapple, lime juice, berries, ice
Mix the ingredients thoroughly together until smooth. Making this smoothie showed me that we can make thick, icy drink combinations and the Nutri Ninja handles them just fine, producing thoroughly blended, icy smoothness. Yum! The two tiers on the blender blades pull ingredients down and purees them smoothly, even with minimal liquid in the blender.
My favorite smoothie ingredients include bananas for a creamy base, strawberries and orange to add tartness, pineapple for sweetness, and vanilla yogurt to create a smooth flavor. You can make any combination of smoothie using the following formula and you won’t go wrong!
Yogurt + Banana + Apple/Orange Juice + Berries + any other fruits + add a leafy green (spinach or kale)
Nutri Ninja offers convenient solutions for families who are on the go and want to eat healthy and live sustainable lifestyles. The Nutri Ninja Auto-iQ Compact System is specifically designed to make it easy to juice your own fruits and veggies and mix up healthy, homemade smoothies. The compact “smart system” is accompanied by canister attachments you can use to mix a beverage, top it with the lid, and take it with you out the door. We received this Nutri Ninja compact system for review and the chance to test out its many features.
First we used the Nutri Ninja Blender on Low to make a Strawberry Banana Smoothie, creating a smoothly delicious blended beverage. Even on low, the blender pureed the ingredients pretty well. Switching to Blend nicely combined any remaining chunks of fresh fruit.
Pulse allows you to control short bursts of blending with the touch of a button. The Low and Chop settings allow for mixing ingredients, ideal for making salsas or mixing cookie dough. Blend and Extract are high power settings, allowing you to make juices and shakes within the same appliance. These various settings combined with the two types of mixing blades that come with the Nutri Ninja offer you a wide range of capabilities.
The Nutri Ninja Compact System comes with a durable plastic blade and a thinner (sharp!) metal blade.
The Pro Extractor Blades (metal) breaks down whole fruits and vegetables and extract nutrients to make refreshing, full-bodied juices.
The High-Performance Blades (plastic) powers through frozen ingredients and ice to make thick smoothies and shakes. The High-Performance blades are also ideal for mixing cookie dough.
I like using the Pro Extractor Blades most because it produces the smoothest juices even when using oranges, pineapple, limes, and blackberries with lots of seeds. These powerful blades break down the pulp and seeds to create homogeneous beverages, filled with fresh nutrients and delicious flavors. We make a lot of smoothies at our house and I really appreciate the versatility this 48 oz. blender offers.
Auto-iQ smart system
At first I didn’t know what this meant, but after a few trial runs I realized that the Nutri Ninja is programmed to know how much your smoothie needs to be blended. The motor operates the blades in several pulses followed by a long blend, even showing how many seconds are left on the countdown timer. The result? Healthy and delicious smoothness.
The Nutri Ninja has a lot of safety features, such as it won’t start if the lid is off. It always concerns me when other blenders don’t have a sensor for the top and actually operate even if the top is off. Not only could this make a mess, it could easily be dangerous. I was so happy to discover that the Nutri Ninja buttons don’t even light up, much less turn on if the top is off. The top also has a release button you have to press to remove the top as an added precaution.
The Nutri Ninja is very easy to operate and offers a variety of power levels and mixing control. We haven’t even began to explore all the potential offered by this handy, universal appliance.
- Nutri Ninja is a Nutrient & Vitamin Extractor, a High-Performance Blender, AND a Precision Processor for all your chopping needs all in one machine.
