A 2-year-old birthday is a big deal. We recently celebrated our little one’s second birthday with cupcakes, twinkle lights, and fairies. No one ever needs to convince me to whip up a cute little birthday party. Fortunately my two girls’ birthdays are spaced out in May and October and my little guy made his entrance into the world after Christmas so I get to plan a fun kid’s birthday party every few months. I kept this toddler birthday party fairly simple; cupcakes, a tiny birthday cake that my daughter helped me decorate during nap time, and pretzels dipped in candy melts. We had a blast! Happy 2nd birthday, baby girl!
I made a tiny and sweet two-year-old birthday cake decorated with simple frosting designs and sprinkles. Next time I should add some of these cute fairy cake toppers!
Yummy toddler-friendly fish crackers and gummy bears make a simple birthday party snack with minimal mess.
We even set up a little fairy tent using a PVC pipe and some Organza fabric that I keep around for fun decor. Flower twinkle lights and a homemade cloth flower garland (from another project) add the perfect fairy garden decorative touches.
Fairy Birthday Party Highlights
- Make fun kids’ treats with frozen berry sticks dipped in yogurt and chocolate dipped pretzel rods.
- Remnants of colored fabric make awesome table toppers! After several parties, I have a bunch of colors now. Just loosely scrunch it up and stick it under your party platters. (I learned this from working at an event center.)
- My daughter’s Disney fairy dolls made perfect kid-friendly decorations!
- Simple is best; after all this party was for celebrating my 2-year-old baby. ♥
Fairy Coloring Craft
The kids colored fairy coloring pages decorated with dots of craft glue and rhinestones. A perfect fairy craft for a 2 year old! We also used colorful gel pens instead of markers, which are a lot less messy.
DIY Glittery Fairy Jar
These fun fairy jars are easy to make with a cool VOSS plastic water bottle. Just fill it up with colored water, add some glitter and drop in some beads, rhinestones, and gems. Seal the VOSS bottle with a piece of tape. Shake it up and watch the glitter and gems swirl around the bottle!
This cute Green Toys Build-a-Bouquet set was a fun party activity to put out and let the kids play with. Each flower piece fits together to create a DIY flower bouquet that even a toddler can build all by themselves.
Of course the best part of any party is eating cake and opening presents!
I hope you got some fun ideas for your own kids’ birthdays! I reuse my decor over and over and I keep a decent amount of craft supplies around, so putting together a little party like this only cost me about $20. And it was super fun and I feel like it celebrated my 2-year-old baby girl in a way that she could fully enjoy. Happy party planning!
