Visiting Colorado? A trip to the Downtown Aquarium is at the top of our list of things to do in Denver with kids. Our family enjoyed seeing the colorful aquatic exhibits, touching sting rays, and watching the live Mystic Mermaid show. See our visit highlights!
You know the routine, kids get new toys for the holidays, play with their toys for a few weeks and quickly move on to the next thing. Christmas gifts can easily end up in next summer’s garage sale. Our family has learned that family adventures can be a great holiday gift idea! It’s also fun to enjoy a change of scene during the colder months of winter. Great Wolf Lodge offers a memorable family getaway at their Snowland Extravaganza, packed with family fun and winter festivities from November 24 to January 4!
Fall is a great time to plan a family visit to your local pumpkin farm! While you are there, you will usually find many opportunities to play together, take some family photos and pick out a pumpkin.
Disney On Ice is a fun way to spend a special night with your family! My girls were very excited and dressed up in anticipation of the show. Disney On Ice has a full schedule of shows throughout the year, so chances are it’s coming to a city near you!
Fishing with youngsters can be a very rewarding and memorable mini-adventure. A well planned fishing trip is such a great way to slow down and spend quality time in the outdoors with the young people in your life. Children absolutely love to catch fish. Before you head out, there are a few things to consider to make your trip successful.

Summer is the perfect time to take your kids to the local theme park! Just slather on the sunscreen, grab your shades and load your kids into the car. This summer my husband took our family adventures to a whole new level! Our recent road trip took us to the mountain trails in Ouray, Colorado. Before our family vacation, my husband carefully outfit our RZR off-road vehicle with harasses and seat belts for the whole family. Once in the mountains, we explored several of the easiest trail routes and saw some gorgeous views! Some parts were a bit bumpier than my kids preferred but they were troopers and they will hopefully remember some of these amazing adventures!
Our family road trip took us to the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, where we saw exhibits about dinosaurs, gems & minerals, an IMAX presentation on flight and visited the Planetarium. We also had fun at the museum’s interactive kid-focused Discovery Zone, a highlight of our visit!
What do you like to do when the weather gets warmer? Our family loves to travel and explore new places. Our recent family adventures took us down the coast of California, over to Colorado and back up to Coeur d’Alene Idaho. We visited some of our extended family in California and stayed in our toy hauler RV trailer, which makes traveling with kids so much easier. Our RV provides our kids comfortable spaces to nap after a shopping trip and a place to rinse off after a swim at the pool. We can also wake up in the morning and make a full breakfast, saving money and reducing the hassle of eating out with little kids. Here are some of the highlights from our California glamping road trip!
