The Perks of Giving Experiences Instead of Things for Christmas

The Perks of Giving Experiences Instead of Things for Christmas

You know the routine, kids get new toys for the holidays, play with their toys for a few weeks and quickly move on to the next thing. Christmas gifts can easily end up in next summer’s garage sale. Our family has learned that family adventures can be a great holiday gift idea! It’s also fun to enjoy a change of scene during the colder months of winter. Great Wolf Lodge offers a memorable family getaway at their Snowland Extravaganza, packed with family fun and winter festivities from November 24 to January 4!

We recently had the chance to experience a Great Wolf Lodge staycation in Grand Mound, Washington. Our family enjoyed playing the interactive live action game MagiQuest, exploring the high ropes course, dining at the Lodge’s in-house restaurants and splashing in the 84-degree water park.  Great Wolf Lodge almost offers more activities than you can enjoy in one weekend.

Give the Gift of Family Memories

Ring in the howliday season with the annual Great Wolf Lodge Snowland Extravaganza from November 24, 2018 to January 4, 2019. The Lodge is spreading cheer to families this year with daily snow showers in the Grand Lobby and visits from Santa Claus along with a life-sized Gingerbread House and more! Families will get into the spirit of Christmas at Great Wolf Lodge’s winter wonderland complete with hundreds of twinkling lights, Christmas trees and other jolly decorations.

Kids will be amazed to see the life-sized Gingerbread House constructed from more than 600 pounds of gingerbread dough, 1,300 pounds of sugar and hundreds of candies. For a truly delectable experience, guests can also dine inside the life-sized gingerbread house with a small donation to the Ronald McDonald House.

Enjoy Low Key Holiday Activities

Other family activities include the Lodge’s delicious hot cocoa bar, Cookies with Mrs. Claus and the Polar Wolf Walk. Children have the opportunity to decorate cookies in the Gingerbread House with Santa’s leading lady and go on a tour of the lobby that teaches children about polar bears penguins and more.

Families can wind the night down by cozying up to watch a holiday movie in the Grand Lobby during Festive Family Flicks.

Snowland’s most popular offerings include visits from Santa Claus; Santa’s Letter Depot, where kids can mail a letter to Santa in the Grand Lobby; and North Pole University, where kids complete fun, holiday-themed assignments around the resort for the chance to earn a Snowploma. During the howliday season, children’s activities such as Story Time, Yoga Tails and Paws on Projects will also get dash of Christmas cheer.

Splash & Swim Even In Winter

In addition to all of the Snowland Extravaganza activities, two days of play in the Great Wolf Lodge water park are included as part of an overnight stay. My kids especially enjoyed the wave pool, water slides and interactive splash pad area.

A weekend at Great Wolf Lodge is a great way to make family memories and give your kids a unique holiday experience this year!

Katie enjoys all things creative; DIY projects, photography, decorating and family adventures. She feels blessed to be a stay-at-home mom with 3 kids and many artistic outlets.
