Strawberries are a delicious treat you can often find in some form year round. We enjoy fresh strawberries in the summer and we’ve even gone strawberry picking as a fun family activity! In off-season months I buy a bag of frozen strawberries to put in smoothies or cut up as a yummy snack. Here are a few tasty treats and ideas to show off your love for strawberries.
Strawberry Roses
Strawberry roses are a very easy snack to make for kids. All you need to make strawberry roses is a handful of large fresh strawberries and a paring knife! Don’t miss our full instructions of how to make strawberry roses.
Strawberry Custard Tarts
Homemade strawberry tarts are another fun treat to make for snack time or an afternoon tea party. If you can make cookies then you can make basic tart dough. Roll out the dough and use a small muffin tin or tart pan to form your tarts. Fill each tart with yummy vanilla cream or fresh chopped strawberries. Yum!
Dried Strawberry Fruit Snacks
One day we also made homemade dried strawberry snacks by baking fresh strawberries in a low heat oven for a few hours. It’s important to cut the strawberry slices thickly so the edges don’t get crispy. Lay the strawberries on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper and bake at 200 degrees for 3 hours. These DIY fruit snacks will be a hit with any kid who loves fruit!
Strawberry Lemonade
Fresh lemonade with strawberry slices is a refreshing beverage all year round! Squeeze a handful of lemons into a pitcher, mix with ice water and a scoop of sugar (to taste) and top with fresh strawberry slices. You can also substitute chopped frozen strawberries to make this yummy fruit infused drink.
Strawberry J-ello Sugar Cookies
Make colorful sugar cookies with strawberry J-ello powder. We made a mix of rainbow cookies with an assortment of J-ello flavors using this easy cookie recipe.
Chocolate Covered Strawberries
Last but not least, chocolate covered strawberries are a delicious addition to any party or snack spread! These treats are very easy to make using a secret tip. Just mix a tbsp. of cooking oil into the melted chocolate before dipping your strawberries to make the chocolate flow smoothly. Place each dipped strawberry on a parchment paper lined baking sheet to dry. You can also decorate your chocolate covered strawberries with sprinkles before the chocolate is fully set.
