You can often find an interesting family adventure just around the corner! We had a blast sliding down the Lionhead natural water slides in North Idaho.
Small towns and National Forests offer great places to explore, relax and breathe in the fresh air. We try to go on a family hike or an off-road ride at least a few times a month. Especially when the weather is sunny but not blazing hot, everyone wants to get out of the house. On this particular day, we took the kids in our RZR to some nearby off-roading trails in the Coeur d’Alene National Forest and stopped for lunch at Gold Creek Lodge.

We took our kids to the 7-Mile ORV Park near Spokane, Washington. Our kids had a blast on their ATVs, practicing the skills they learned in their off-road safety class.
The off-season is a great time to travel and enjoy some weather that’s different than what you’re used to. We often head to warmer climates in February and March, when our North Idaho area is frosty with snow. This year we headed to the California coast. We took our young kids on several amazing coastal hikes and scenic walks on the beach. We also explored the local Pismo Beach downtown area and took a memorable tour of Hearst Castle. These great places to take kids near Pismo Beach, CA provided plenty of activities and adventures for our family!

We live near quite a few lakes and rivers which are easy to access in the Coeur d’Alene, Idaho area. We’ve spent many memorable hours tubing, boating and kayaking with our kids. Don’t forget the #1 rule: It’s important to keep an eye on kids around the water and wear life jackets when out on the water. These four adventurous water activities are great ways to make memories with your family in the glorious outdoors.
