This cute paper party hat is perfect for celebrating a child’s birthday! I think that birthday parties are fun opportunities to create DIY accessories. Additionally, I often make homemade paper party decorations! Learn how to easily make a paper party hat using colored cardstock and crafty accents.
Paper Party Hat Craft
To make a paper party had, you will need the following craft supplies.
- colored cardstock
- ribbon or trim
- tulle
- stick-on rhinestones
I made this princess party hat by shaping purple cardstock into a cone shape. I added a crown-inspired design using darker purple cardstock. Finally, I cut a piece of aqua tulle and added decorative rhinestones. I attached the materials with two different types of glue. I used rubber cement to glue the paper together, and hot glue for the trim and decorative rhinestones.
Paper Party Hat How To
To make a paper party hat, first roll up a sheet of cardstock into a cone. Glue the edges using a thin line of rubber cement. Next, trim the bottom to make the paper cone even.
For a princess hat design, tuck a piece of tulle into the top point of the hat. Attach the tulle with a dab of hot glue.
Finally, decorate the party hat with trim, jewels, or stickers. I recommend using hot glue for paper crafts like this, which minimizes drying time.
Once you create the party hat shape using cardstock, you can decorate with all sorts of cute accents. Party hat decorating could include glitter, jewels, stickers, pom poms, and fabric paint.
