Easy DIY Felt Pennant Banner

Easy DIY Felt Pennant Banner

Homemade party pennants are super easy to make and you can coordinate colors to match any party theme! I made a cute felt pennant banner in under an hour with just a few supplies; ribbon, felt, a piece of cardboard, scissors, a hot glue gun and a measuring tape. Once the party is over, you can hang the pennant banner in your child’s room or in the playroom to brighten up an everyday space.

Cardboard to make a template

Make a pennant banner template by cutting a piece of cardboard into a uniform triangle. Use the triangle template to cut pieces of colored felt into identical flags. I made about 20 felt pennant banner flags in various colors. You can place the cardboard template directly on the felt and cut around it, or trace the template onto the felt and cut it out. I was able to stack several pieces of felt which allowed me to cut multiple flags at one time.

Use a hot glue gun to attach the felt flags along the length of a long piece of ribbon. I laid out the flags along the ribbon before gluing so I could alternate the colors at random and make sure the colors were well balanced. I also used a ruler to make sure the flags were evenly spaced. Squeeze a line of hot glue along the top of each flag and attach it to the ribbon. Make sure the ribbon lies flat and doesn’t twist as you attach each pennant banner flag.
