Felicity Merriman is brave, adventurous, and loyal to her friends and family. She was one of the original American Girl dolls, alongside Kirsten, Samantha, Molly, and Addy. Felicity has always been one of my favorite characters. I was sad when she was archived, so I was thrilled when American Girl re-released her as a 2017 BeForever doll. We received the American Girl Felicity Merriman doll to review, along with some of her historical outfits and accessories.

Felicity’s Story: Colonial Williamsburg
Felicity’s story takes place in colonial Williamsburg in 1774. It was a simpler time, with far less technology. America was also on the brink of the Revolutionary War. Felicity is a tomboyish, adventurous character that many girls relate to. The ladylike manners and customs of the time often frustrate her. She believes in fighting for what she values, though she sometimes wavers between brave and foolish. Her story brings an important piece of US history to life. I love that kids can learn about history through a memorable character.
Felicity’s Outfit and Accessories
The American Girl Felicity Merriman doll is fun to dress up. She comes in a beautiful blue dress with a Williamsburg-inspired style. The dress gathers in the back and has a contrasting yellow panel in front. Embroidery was a popular way to decorate dresses back then, often in bright jewel colors and bold patterns. She also comes with simple leather buckle shoes and white socks.
Her accessory kit, sold separately, includes a straw hat, a white bonnet, a shawl, and her signature coral bead necklace.
Timeless American Girl Stories
Felicity’s stories are historical, yet timeless. I have many special memories of reading the Felicity books as a little girl. Now I read them with my own girls! The Felicity doll and book set is a lovely gift for any girl who loves American Girl dolls.
