Homemade Strawberry Fruit Snacks Your Kids Will Love

by Katie Wallace | Updated: June 28, 2026

If your kids love fruit snacks as much as mine do, you’ll enjoy this simple recipe for homemade strawberry fruit snacks. They’re naturally sweet, a little bit tart, and totally free of added sugar. These chewy bites are a healthy twist on the store-bought version. Additionally, they make a fun DIY snack project you can do right at home!

We often make homemade strawberry fruit snacks in the afternoon while working on school or doing fun kids activities. They only take a few minutes to prep, and while they bake, the kitchen smells amazing. These dried strawberry snacks are a great option for road trips, lunchboxes, or anytime you want a sweet treat without artificial flavors or ingredients.

Step 1: Prep Your Strawberries

Start by rinsing a batch of fresh strawberries under cool water. Remove the stems and leaves, and then slice each berry in half or lengthwise. Thicker slices will result in chewier fruit snacks, while thinner slices will dry faster but may turn crispy around the edges.

For the best texture, I like to slice the strawberries in half or into thick strips. You can also experiment by cutting the berries into cubes for chunkier, gummy-style pieces.

Step 2: Bake Low and Slow

200 degrees – 3 hours

Place the sliced strawberries on a parchment-lined baking sheet. This is important because strawberries can stick to the pan as they dry. Spread the slices out evenly so they don’t overlap.

Bake the strawberries at 200 degrees Fahrenheit for about 3 hours. This slow bake allows the berries to dehydrate gently, creating a soft, leathery texture similar to classic fruit snacks.

You don’t need to babysit them either. Just pop them in the oven and let the low heat work its magic while you go about your day. When they’re done, the strawberries will look slightly darker and feel chewy to the touch.

Step 3: Let Them Cool and Enjoy

Once the fruit snacks are out of the oven, let them cool before removing them from the parchment paper. They’ll firm up slightly as they cool. Store your homemade strawberry fruit snacks in an airtight container for up to a week. However, they rarely last that long in our house!

These naturally sweet treats are delicious on their own or added to a homemade trail mix with banana chips, raisins, and nuts. They’re also a great alternative to candy if your kids love sour flavors.

Homemade Strawberry Fruit Snacks

Making your own homemade strawberry fruit snacks is a fun and healthy way to get creative in the kitchen. It’s also a great opportunity to include your kids in the process. My kids enjoy washing and slicing the berries, and of course, sneaking a few bites when the fruit snacks are ready.

Did you try this recipe? We’d love to hear how your fruit snacks turned out! Leave a comment and let us know what your kids thought of this sweet homemade snack.

Every new adventure teaches them they can do hard things!

Travel also teaches kids flexibility, resilience, and resourcefulness in real life.

Already, our kids can confidently order lunch in another language, navigate a new city, and start planning our next adventure themselves. 🌍

We’ve experienced that travel isn’t just about seeing new places. It’s about raising curious, confident kids who are ready for the world!

Turns out iPhones and saltwater don’t mix. 💦 A qui Turns out iPhones and saltwater don’t mix. 💦 A quick dip (a splash really) completely destroyed my phone’s screen and any media that wasn’t backed up to iCloud.

Not a huge deal though. 😌 I was without a phone for a week and I realized it was refreshing. So when I got a new iPhone $1000 later, I made some big changes. I didn’t reinstall half my apps. No Signal or Facebook. I continue to not have X, Snapchat, or TikTok. Because I’m so busy with family life and being a mom (and pregnant), these apps are just so distracting and overstimulating for me.

Good news! I have a working phone and you can find me on Instagram, text on iMessage, and occasionally see photos on Facebook when I post from my computer.

💬 Is anyone else completely overstimulated by all the distracting apps?? 😄🤯

The Elephant House is well known as one of the cafés where J. K. Rowling spent time writing portions of the Harry Potter series. With views overlooking Edinburgh and a cozy atmosphere, it’s easy to see why this spot inspired so much creativity.

Whether you’re a Harry Potter fan or simply enjoy discovering unique places, it’s a memorable stop while exploring Edinburgh. And yes… the Butterbeer made the experience even more fun! ✨

⚡ If you could visit one Harry Potter filming location or inspiration in the UK, which one would you choose?
