Popsicle Stick Monsters Creative Kids Craft

by Katie Wallace | Updated: April 19, 2026

Feeling crafty? This popsicle stick monster craft is a great activity for kids. My kids loved designing their own monsters, painting the wooden sticks and creating unique faces. You can make these colorful monsters look silly, scary or funny!

How to Make a Popsicle Stick Monster

To make these popsicle stick monsters, you will need a variety of simple craft supplies.

Materials

  • wooden popsicle sticks
  • craft paint
  • small paint trays
  • paint brushes
  • colored foam sheets
  • googly eyes
  • hot glue gun

First, create the monster’s body by laying 5 popsicle sticks side by side. Cut a stick into smaller 2.5 inch pieces. Connect the popsicle sticks by hot gluing a piece of popsicle stick across the back of the monster at the top and bottom.

Paint Your Popsicle Stick Monster

Next, it’s time to paint your popsicle stick monster with colored craft paint! Kids can get as creative as they’d like with painting their monsters! You can paint your popsicle stick monster a solid color, create a gradient ombre look or make polka dots! Once the popsicle stick monster is fully painted, allow the paint to dry before moving on to the next step.

Accessorize Your Popsicle Stick Monster

Finally, kids can give their monsters some personality. Create faces by cutting shapes out of colored foam sheets. Glue them onto the popsicle stick monsters to make interesting faces.

The fun thing about monsters, is that you can give them any number of eyes, horns, and funny facial expressions! We made monsters with 2 eyes stacked on top of each other, 4 eyes and 1 big eye. My kids made mostly friendly popsicle stick monsters and none of them look particularly scary.

Kids will have a blast designing their DIY popsicle stick monsters! I love encouraging my kids to do crafty projects. My kids get to think creatively, come up with funny ideas, and practice useful skills such as painting with a paint brush. Turn an ordinary afternoon into a fun creative experience by making popsicle stick monsters!

🌟Our kids quickly discovered that the world is big 🌟Our kids quickly discovered that the world is bigger than their own yard, town, or state.

Every new adventure teaches them they can do hard things!

Travel also teaches kids flexibility, resilience, and resourcefulness in real life.

Already, our kids can confidently order lunch in another language, navigate a new city, and start planning our next adventure themselves. 🌍

We’ve experienced that travel isn’t just about seeing new places. It’s about raising curious, confident kids who are ready for the world!

Turns out iPhones and saltwater don’t mix. 💦 A qui Turns out iPhones and saltwater don’t mix. 💦 A quick dip (a splash really) completely destroyed my phone’s screen and any media that wasn’t backed up to iCloud.

Not a huge deal though. 😌 I was without a phone for a week and I realized it was refreshing. So when I got a new iPhone $1000 later, I made some big changes. I didn’t reinstall half my apps. No Signal or Facebook. I continue to not have X, Snapchat, or TikTok. Because I’m so busy with family life and being a mom (and pregnant), these apps are just so distracting and overstimulating for me.

Good news! I have a working phone and you can find me on Instagram, text on iMessage, and occasionally see photos on Facebook when I post from my computer.

💬 Is anyone else completely overstimulated by all the distracting apps?? 😄🤯

So magical! This was such a fun stop during our fa So magical! This was such a fun stop during our family adventures in Scotland! ⚡🍺

The Elephant House is well known as one of the cafés where J. K. Rowling spent time writing portions of the Harry Potter series. With views overlooking Edinburgh and a cozy atmosphere, it’s easy to see why this spot inspired so much creativity.

Whether you’re a Harry Potter fan or simply enjoy discovering unique places, it’s a memorable stop while exploring Edinburgh. And yes… the Butterbeer made the experience even more fun! ✨

⚡ If you could visit one Harry Potter filming location or inspiration in the UK, which one would you choose?
