The best way to teach kids new interests and skills is by making learning fun! I love finding all sorts of ways to make school fun for my girls. My girls enjoy doing experiments in the kitchen, mixing colored water, learning how plants grow and looking at the stars at night. My oldest daughter hopes to get a telescope someday. STEM activities are another fun way to introduce kids to science. American Girl created Luciana Vega to make learning about space fun for girls. Luciana is an adventurous girl who loves going to space camp and hopes to become an astronaut and visit Mars. Her colorful outfit, space accessories and adventureous interests will make any girl excited to learn about space!
Meet Luciana, American Girl’s 2018 Girl of the Year! She’s an aspiring astronaut ready to take the next giant leap to exploring Mars. Luciana is a modern addition to the American Girl doll collection. Her warm brown eyes open and close and her straight dark-brown hair is accented with a bright purple streak. She has a huggable cloth body, movable head and limbs made of smooth vinyl.
Playtime with Luciana is a fun opportunity to learn about the galaxy and discover just how far away Mars is from the earth. Kids can color constellation coloring pages or make a yummy berry galaxy smoothie (see our recipe below!)
American Girl Luciana learns about the value of teamwork in the first book of her series. Luciana is great at science and she’s excited to go to Space Camp! When she’s chosen to lead her team in a robot challenge she learns the value of becoming someone her crew can depend on, no matter what.
Luciana is ready for space camp dressed in her Cosmic-print dress, holographic lace-up boots and red purse belt. The Luciana American Girl doll comes with the first book in her series. You can purchase her space-inspired accessory set as an add-on.
Luciana’s Space Accessory Set
Luciana’s mementos from Space Camp include this space themed accessory set.
- A shiny holographic backpack with a constellation graphic
- A star chart for nighttime gazing
- A pretend smart watch to keep her on track
- Pretend dehydrated space ice cream—just like the astronauts eat!
- A Space Camp log book to record her progress
- A Space Camp graduation certificate
All of Luciana’s accessories fit into her holographic backpack. Her acorn from earth tucks into her red purse belt as a reminder of her home planet when she someday visits Mars.
My girls enjoy dressing up Luciana and going on space adventures. We may even make Luciana her own spaceship as an afternoon project one day!
