Here is a quick little craft that makes brushing teeth more fun. These toothbrush tutus take just a few minutes to make, and they turn a plain toothbrush into something a kid wants to pick up. Toothbrush tutus also solved a real problem in our house: with a tutu on each handle, each girl knows which brush is theirs.
This is a great five-minute craft project for a rainy afternoon or a lazy weekend. Pick the tulle colors, a little trim, and let your girls choose their favorites.
Toothbrush Tutus Materials
- toothbrush
- tulle strips, about 8 by 4 inches
- trim or ribbon
- thread
- hot glue gun
How to Make a Toothbrush Tutu
1. Fold a tulle strip in half lengthwise.
2. Stitch a line of thread along the folded edge, then gently pull both thread ends to gather it into a ruffle.
3. Wrap the gathered tulle around the toothbrush handle and secure it with a small dab of hot glue.
4. Glue the two ends together to close the skirt, then add a strip of trim over the seam to hide it.
That is it. Because hot glue is waterproof, these little tutus hold up well to daily use. If the tulle gets grimy, you can rinse it and set it out to dry.
