American Girl 2020 Holiday Outfits

The American Girl catalog is a super fun lookbook for girls to browse and make their wish lists. This year American Girl offered many beautiful holiday outfits and winter accessories for both the 18″ dolls and 14″ WellieWishers. The Nutcracker Sugar Plum Fairy doll was the “star” of the 2020 holiday releases. She even sold out in late November. I love that the American Girl brand offers something for every budget, from super fancy sets to individual holiday outfits for both dolls and girls. Which of these American Girl 2020 holiday outfits is your favorite?

Nutcracker Character Outfits

The Nutcracker Mouse King & Land of the Sweets outfits come together in a gift-ready box. The 16-piece set includes a Mouse King costume and Peppermint Dancer outfit.

The Mouse King costume includes a purple velvet jacket with gold embroidery and a velvet Mouse King cape. These coordinate with a fancy white ascot, pair of red pants, black shoes, and white knee socks. An 18″ doll can wear the headband with mouse ears and a gold crown and also hold the plastic sword.

The Peppermint Dancer outfit comes with a red-and-white-striped peppermint leotard. The layered white tutu is detailed with red ribbon. A headband with a red bow and a pair of white satin ballet shoes complete the outfit. Plus, an 18″ doll can hold the oversized peppermint-striped lollipop!

Sugar Plum Fairy Limited Edition Doll

When the American Girl holiday catalog came out, my girls oohed and ahhed over the limited edition Nutcracker Sugar Plum Fairy doll. Apparently many other parents and little girls felt the same. This doll quickly sold out in the midst of holiday shopping. This American Girl 2020 holiday doll is bedazzled with 240 Swarovski® crystals. She’s from the Land of the Sweets and she’s the star performer in The Nutcracker holiday ballet.

The Nutcracker Sugar Plum Fairy has brown eyes and dark purple hair that’s twisted into an elegant hairdo. Her ballet makeup is complete with glitter eye shadow and glossy lips. She comes wearing a purple velour leotard decorated with 225 Swarovski crystals and accented with tulle sleeves. The leotard coordinates with her purple and pink tutu with a silver elastic waistband. She also wears lavender tights and lavender satin ballet shoes.

American Girl spared no details with this doll. She wears a metal tiara decorated with 10 amethyst Swarovski crystals, a ribbon necklace with a star pendant, and amethyst crystal earrings. Her accessories coordinate with her metal heart-shaped scepter, which she can hold.

All that Glitters Dresses

Especially for the holidays, girls can dress up their whole American Girl doll collection in coordinating All that Glitters dresses. These dresses come in sizes for 18″ dolls, 14″ WellieWishers, Bitty Baby and standard sizes for girls. The All that Glitters white dress has a glittery tulle skirt and tulle ruffles at the shoulders. The tulle is bedazzled with gold glitter stars, which coordinates with the gold glitter ribbon at the waist. Gold glitter shoes, a clutch purse and a golden headband complete this outfit.

Sparkling Star Dance Outfit

Almost as glittery as the Sugar Plum Fairy’s costume, my daughter was delighted to receive the Sparkling Star Dance Outfit for 18″ dolls. This super cute outfit shimmers with rainbow sequins on the layered skirt, headband and wristbands. A pink leotard, black crop top and black ballet flats complete the dance ensemble. It’s perfect for dance practice, backyard play or a dance recital on stage.

WellieWishers Winter Outfits & Accessories

Last but not least, girls can have tons of fun in the snow this holiday with the American Girl WellieWishers. These creative friends are often ready for any adventure. The American Girl WellieWishers individual winter play sets include a snow suit, cozy knit dress with leggings and boots, and a snowboard with a helmet and goggles. Each of these snow-themed outfits and accessories fit any of the five 14″ WellieWishers dolls; Ashlyn, Camille, Emerson, Kendall, and Willa.

Although American Girl dolls, outfits and accessories are great gift ideas for any special occasion, they are especially fun to open on Christmas morning. My girls love adding to their American Girl collection, and I love picking out outfits and accessories I know they will enjoy. American Girl offers so many cute add-on sets for each season, it’s hard to choose just one.
