Paper Party Hat Princess Design

by Katie Wallace | Updated: June 22, 2022

This cute paper party hat is perfect for celebrating a child’s birthday! I think that birthday parties are fun opportunities to create DIY accessories. Additionally, I often make homemade paper party decorations! Learn how to easily make a paper party hat using colored cardstock and crafty accents.

Paper Party Hat Craft

To make a paper party had, you will need the following craft supplies.

  • colored cardstock
  • ribbon or trim
  • tulle
  • stick-on rhinestones

I made this princess party hat by shaping purple cardstock into a cone shape. I added a crown-inspired design using darker purple cardstock. Finally, I cut a piece of aqua tulle and added decorative rhinestones. I attached the materials with two different types of glue. I used rubber cement to glue the paper together, and hot glue for the trim and decorative rhinestones.

How to Make a Paper Party Hat

To make a paper party hat, first roll up a sheet of cardstock into a cone. Glue the edges using a thin line of rubber cement. Next, trim the bottom to make the paper cone even.

For a princess hat design, tuck a piece of tulle into the top point of the hat. Attach the tulle with a dab of hot glue.

Finally, decorate the party hat with trim, jewels, or stickers. I recommend using hot glue for paper crafts like this, which minimizes drying time.

Once you create the party hat shape using cardstock, you can decorate with all sorts of cute accents. Party hat decorating could include glitter, jewels, stickers, pom poms, and fabric paint.

Fun Kids Party Craft

Making homemade party hats is a fun afternoon kids project! Additionally, kids at a birthday party could each make and decorate their own party hats.

This little birthday girl looked darling in her homemade paper party hat.

I hope you try this paper craft next time you celebrate a birthday! Homemade party hats are very inexpensive to make and very fun to design.

Don’t let the baby fool you. We will take suspic Don’t let the baby fool you. We will take suspicious people down. 😁💪We’ve learned some interesting things while traveling in the last few weeks! First of all, pickpocketing is very prevalent in Europe, and we may have witnessed it. We haven’t been targeted because we have crossbody bags which keep our valuables close to the chest. Also, we’re not very chatty with strangers who don’t speak English. 🤷‍♀️Evidently pickpockets use fake petitions or charity causes, uncommon friendliness, children, and distractions to steal your valuables. We’ve seen some of these people try to compel us to sign papers on their clipboards, or give our kids a free bracelet. That was a NO from us, but we didn’t really know what was up until recently. Also! Evidently people trying to sell you things for one euro on the street are just trying to locate where your wallet is. 🤯 We buy things with coins, separate our credit cards among bags, and keep friendliness short. Kinda sad, right?? I already have natural situational awareness, but I am thankful to keep on learning things as we travel! I’m also praying for ongoing safety and wisdom. Also, I would say these people aren’t dangerous, but just sneaky. I haven’t felt in danger at all so far. But I think it’s common for locals to think opportunistically about tourists. I feel kind of bad for some, but then I remember it’s a racket.⁉️ Have you encountered pickpocketing or thieves while traveling??#createplaytravel #travelingwithkids #travelsafety
