Meet American Girl Nanea Mitchell – 1941 BeForever Doll – 2017 Release

by Katie Wallace | Updated: January 15, 2018

One my favorite things about having girls is seeing them enjoy the toys and activities that I loved as a child. American Girl is one of my all-time favorite brands. I loved collecting the American Girl dolls and accessories, making my dolls custom clothing and choosing new outfit sets from the AG catalog. I gave my oldest daughter my Truly Me American Girl doll as soon as she was old enough to take care of her and we’ve grown our collection with several new BeForever Dolls and the WellieWishers Camille and Ashlyn. My girls also enjoy dressing up American Girl’s latest BeForever doll Nanea Mitchell, a Hawaiian girl from 1941.

Nanea Mitchell American Girl doll review

American Girl Nanea Mitchell has big hazel eyes & wavy dark-brown hair. She arrives in an authentic 1940s-style outfit and includes the paperback book, Growing Up with Aloha. Nanea Mitchell has a heart to help take care of her friends and neighbors by sharing the aloha spirit. Kindness is extra important especially after the devastating attack on Pearl Harbor. Nanea’s story will introduce kids to important historical events and the value of coming together as a community to help in difficult times.

The 18″ Nanea doll has a huggable cloth body and a movable head and limbs made of smooth vinyl. She includes the paperback book Growing Up with Aloha, the first novel-length volume of Nanea’s classic series. My girls are too young to read by themselves but I will enjoy reading Nanea’s stories to them.

Nanea’s outfit includes a button-up blouse decorated with an island print, sailor-style moku shorts and brown sandals with cross-cross straps. She even comes with simple underwear and a hibiscus flower hair clip.

Nanea is also fun to dress up in her add-on Hula outfit which include a faux-ti-leaf skirt that rustles like the sounds of real hula skirts, red hawaiian top, colorful yellow leis and feathered gourd shakers. Nanea’s additional outfits and accessories are available separately, each highlighting traditional Hawaiian designs.

The American Girl doll collection includes many historical era BeForever dolls as well as TrulyMe dolls which girls can design to look like them. My girls favorites dolls include the WellieWishers friends who each come in a trendy outfit and Wellie boots. The WellieWishers enjoy playing outside, putting on a show and going on adventures. Bitty Baby dolls are designed for younger kids along with many baby doll gear sets, outfits and accessories. I also love that American Girl offers many matching outfit styles so girls can dress up to match their dolls.

American Girl offers so many dolls, accessories and characters to choose from; every girl is sure to find a favorite!

Travel with kids tips & inspo 🌍🌺 Creative family ideas 🌟 Saved by grace ➡️ Follow our adventures!

Airbnb makes traveling with kids so flexible! But Airbnb makes traveling with kids so flexible! But we’ve had to buy some household essentials for our stays. We usually bring our own:

trash bags, cleaning supplies, laundry soap & stain remover, sponges & dish brushes, extra toilet paper, sometimes cute decor! 😆

The reason for this is that Airbnbs are usually not stocked with household supplies. I have my own go-to to favorite products for wiping countertops and doing laundry.

Additionally, when we travel, we often stay in 5 to 10 Airbnbs, and it’s nice to have our household essentials with us.

Which household essentials can you not do without while traveling? 😊🧻

📍 Ripon Prison Museum - Step back into the earl 📍 Ripon Prison Museum - Step back into the early 1800s in Yorkshire, England, where crime came with serious consequences. Even children were punished with prison time for stealing food or property. 😭

We walked through cold cells and learned about the forced labor and bleak meals given to inmates. This glimpse into Victorian prison life was sobering, but such a powerful experience for our kids.

Would your homeschool family enjoy this field trip? 🕯️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
