Baking Christmas cookies and holiday treats is a tradition for most families. My girls are old enough now that they can help in the kitchen! This week we made gingerbread cookies cut into hearts, stars, snowflakes, and gingerbread men. My girls incidentally don’t like the taste of gingerbread (or most other cookies other than chocolate) but they had a lot of fun baking holiday cookies for our friends and neighbors! All you need to make gingerbread cookies is a good gingerbread recipe. I rescued our cookie cutters from the play dough box and let the girls cut out their own shapes!
Making homemade holiday treats in the kitchen with my preschooler and toddler is always fun. Of course, my youngest daughter’s kitty had to participate too.
In the middle of our cooking making party, my 2-year-old decided to change her outfit and choose her new bright green polka dot dress from Kelly’s Kids mix and match clothing. My daughter regularly changes her own outfit during the day, putting on skirts for nap time and dressing herself in a twirly dress for bedtime. Go figure. You can often find her with a tutu skirt layered under her dress.
Our homemade gingerbread cookies turned out deliciously! They aren’t too hard or too crumbly, and perfect to be paired with gourmet chocolate pretzels and chocolate drizzled graham crackers from Shari’s Berries! This fun gourmet chocolate company sent us their assorted chocolate box, including chocolate covered pretzels, graham crackers, and chocolate dipped sandwich cookies (similar to Oreos). We also received a set of delicious chocolate truffles, a perfect holiday treat to make the season extra festive!
A Rocky Mountain Chocolate sampler from Shari’s Berries includes 8 Milk Chocolate Covered Graham Crackers, 12 Milk & Dark Chocolate Covered Bavarian Pretzels, and 8 Milk Chocolate Covered Sandwich Cookies Cookies. Yum! A perfect gift idea for the chocolate lover in your family. Our little cousins came over for a Pete’s Dragon movie night and devoured these delicious kid-friendly chocolate treats. This chocolate sampler makes a beautiful presentation on a plate or platter for your holiday buffet table.
Shari’s Berries Milk Chocolate and White Confection Truffles are filled with assorted fillings such as Champagne, Chocolate, Mocha Valencia, Irish Crème, Kahlua, Raspberry, Semi-sweet Chocolate, Coffee, Rum, and Peanut Butter. We will enjoy these at our Christmas party this year with our whole extended family. I love the gorgeous gift-ready gift boxes and packaging these holiday treats come in. You will easily find a chocolate holiday treat for everyone on your list!
In addition to baking, we also enjoyed playing in the snow and making cute snowman crafts. I love doing projects that encourage my kids’ creativity and motor skills, such as cutting paper, writing their letters, practicing with glue, and sprinkling glitter.
Life with girls; my two daughters have been outside many times since the snow started falling and they stick to the same two paths through the snow to and from the swing set.
Of course little brother wants to join in the fun too! The 13 degree weather may be a little too cold for him to properly enjoy the snow…
I hope you are making fun memories with your family this holiday season! Enjoy a yummy hot drink, make a fun snowman craft, or just curl up with a good book in the cozy evenings by the Christmas tree.
