Are you planning a party? You don’t have to break the bank to host a memorable party. All you need is a few creative kids party treats and an open afternoon to whip up some fun party ideas!
Heart Shape Fruit Platter
Make a heart shaped fruit platter using a strip of paper to create a heart “template”. Fill with one color fruit inside and another color fruit outside and remove the paper border. Fruit platter shapes are as easy as can be and are healthy party treats! Learn how to make a star shaped fruit platter too!
Colorful Ice Balls
Make colorful ice that’s perfect to spice up your lemonade or lemon-lime soda. You can make colorful ice spheres two ways.
Easily make unflavored colorful ice balls by mixing water and food coloring and freezing it in one of these snazzy ice sphere trays.
Make flavored colorful ice balls by pouring liquid otter pops into one of these ice sphere trays. Make one color at a time and allow the spheres to fully freeze (6+ hours) before trying to remove them from the trays.
Tip! We recommend making one color at a time per tray because the colors bleed into the other spheres of the tray if mixed.
Just place the tray snugly together and pour the liquid through the top hole in each sphere.
Colorful ice cube spheres will make your mixed drinks more festive! Pop these creative kids party treats in a glass with a light colored juice or fizzy clear soda to make a fun fruity beverage!
Chocolate Dipped Pretzel Rods
Make fun chocolate pretzel snacks to match the color of any party theme. We started out with white chocolate candy melts, added food coloring and made an assortment of delicious chocolate pretzels!
To make these sweet and creative kids party treats, melt the chocolate candy melts in a double boiler or in a microwave for 30 seconds at a time until fully melted.
Dip each pretzel rod in the melting chocolate and decorate with sprinkles while the chocolate is still sticky.
Once set, the chocolate will be hard and your pretzel party treats will be ready to display on your party table!

“Dirt Cup” Creative Kids Party Treats
This is the easiest party snack of all. Kids love chocolate and gummy worms! To make dirt cup party treats, simply layer instant chocolate pudding and crumbled chocolate cake into cups, tucking in gummy worms and topping with more chocolate cake crumbles. My kids couldn’t wait to dig in to this delicious dirt!
Everyone loves a good old cup of dirt!
Design a Cute Birthday Cake
Most kids will be thrilled if their mom makes them a birthday cake, regardless of what it looks like. This year we made a flower pot cake that turned out pretty good. The party day was warm though and the frosting started sliding off halfway through the party. Oh well, it tasted delicious! Use your creativity and make a unique birthday cake that matches the theme of the party.
We also tried out one of those lotus spinner candles from Amazon. It kinda worked and at least lit the candles with a halfhearted spin before it fizzled out. My 5-year-old loved it.
Healthy Veggie Party Treats
After all the sugar at a kid’s birthday party, a veggie platter is always welcome! Pick items that are easy to eat and dip in ranch. Our veggie platter included celery, cucumber, sugar snap peas, and carrots. Refreshing and delicious! You can even make the veggie platter the night before and chill it in the refrigerator overnight. I try to make as much of the party food as possible the day before the party. Then I can just enjoy the party!
In my opinion, fun parties are all about the fun food and creative kids party treats. You don’t have to spend $1,000 on a candy buffet! Just whip up a fruit platter, make a homemade dessert, turn on the sprinkler or break out the sensory activities and your kids will have a blast! Happy party planning!

These will be perfect for my girls birthdays this summer!
I make dirt cups every time I do a plan and animal unit in my classroom. They are always a huge hit!

I love the fruit shapes, so easy! Very clever! Those colored ice balls look really fun too! Perfect for summer!
